Look, I'm not the biggest McDonald's fan. There are better burgers to be had -- there are certainly better fries to be had. But one thing McDonald's has going for it is reliability. When I try the fries at local burger joints it's typically 50-50 whether the fries work for my tastebuds (or my stomach, for that matter). McDonald's fries lie right on that dashed line between the 50's. Just good enough that I enjoy them, cooked so that my stomach just barely tolerates them. And for that, I give them a solid 2.75 fries out of 5.
